  1. What does it feel like to be a human wind chime?

  2. What are brain beavers and what does that have to do with wisdom?

  3. What is the sound of trees communicating?

These are questions that Wild Life Report answers with a most unusual product: A Nature Art Experience.

"Sounds at Belle Isle" : Roughly 1 Hour, this is a small (4-8 persons) artist-led group activity.

Here is an outline of the activities:

WIND METAL: We become a human wind chime. There are no wrong notes.

MICRO/MACRO: Individually with headphones, we walk with sound accompaniment to imagine the Earth as a giant human body that we are walking upon or within.

BRAIN BEAVERS: A live cartoon-talk that looks to beavers for wisdom.

TREE FREQUENCY: We find the sound of trees communicating with a boombox.

CD SUNGLASSES: We wear them. Retro & Futuristic simultaneously, allegedly invented by Canadian Geese.

MORE INFO

Earbuds (or headphones) and a smart phone are required for the MICRO/MACRO piece. Sharing headphones with another participant would work.

This is designed to be entertaining, relaxing and hopefully mind-opening, but most importantly, it's customized to you. Do you want to walk a lot? Great. Don't want to walk at all? No problem. Just let me know. I look forward to meeting you.

Minimum 4 people, Maximum 8 people.

ABOUT ME:

I am an artist / musician from Detroit with a penchant for the outdoors. Having worked for 7 years seasonally with artist residencies in woodsy environments in Michigan and Maine, I find socializing + experimental art + nature to be a perfect combination for a good time. I combine my connection to sound with my most powerful tool: my IMAGINATION. I create playful spaces of conceptual art that are participatory and invite a connection with something easy to take for granted - our relationship to the natural world. Oh right, we are natural!

I am an artist/musician with 20 years of experience making work, performing, and working in the arts. I am the front-person of the band Soft Location, and I perform solo, playing keyboards, drums, guitar and vocals, and rocks - like the kind you find at the beach. In 2009 I ran an experimental outdoor artspace called The Lot in North Corktown as a piece of public art. I have professional experience with established institutions like the Detroit Institute of Arts as an AV Technician & The Mattress Factory Museum in Pittsburgh in Exhibitions: Special Projects, as well as local initiatives Dabls' MBAD African Bead Museum, Sidewalk Festival & CMAP. I believe in hosting, sharing gifts, and in the importance of art outside typical art contexts.

Wild Life Report is an attempt to interact from a place of attention. While these pieces may seem strange, they are rooted in a sense of reverence for life and living.

THOUGHTS:

The source of my power lies in my relationships to other living beings. This is magic.

Another idea of magic - Something internal can unlock external potential. Aka, a relationship between inner and outer worlds.

What are the formations of the landscape of our unconscious? Aka, What are the underlying thoughts and symbols that reinforce a belief in, and an agreement with, life as it is?

Inter-relatedness : Connection to ourselves, each other, and the other inhabitants of our planet

Have you ever tried to keep up with the shadow of a seagull when you're on your bike? The power of art making affords the possibility to be carried away into the experience of another, allowing for a shift in perspective.

The blueing sky. The blue sky. The first sentence conveys a sense of evolving expression, the second a fixed state.

How can I support change? How can I love more?
